Chains of Golden Blooms

For Macro Flowers Saturday here are some photos of my Golden Chain Tree  Laburnum x watereri Vossi which Maia herself wrote about a few weeks ago.
.
 .
A tree that I always as a child had great respect for and was told not to eat the seeds or chew on a leaf, flower or twigs as every part of the tree is highly poisonous if ingested.  The variety I grow produces few seeds and I usually try to remove them once they’ve formed on the tree except for those at the very top!
.
.
I’ve grown this tree in the last 2 gardens I have cultivated as its such a favourite of mine and a reminder of the ones my granddad used to grow.  My children used to get the same warning each year when it came into blossom.
.
.
I hope you enjoy its blooms here as much as I do and I wish they lasted much longer on the tree.  I’ve also written about this tree in my Jewellery Showcase this weekend. (where I find plants in the garden that look like pieces of jewellery).

Hey Rosie, I have three oleander bushes, and one of my neighbor's told me they were poisonous. Looked it up and they have to be ingested, or leaves burnt when cooking . Mine are in my front yard , and I told my son to stay away from it. Plus they are ALL over my neighborhood , and they sell them in the nurseries..so never heard of anyone here having a problem. Your tree is beautiful ! Gina

@Antique ART Garden

Gina I have heard of one case of near death due to eating some laburnum seeds - one of my neighbours in NIreland told me the story about a friend of theirs.

Oleander is just as poisionous along with Daphne berries. All are sold in nuseries here too. I only know of one plant our local garden centre refuses to sell due to its toxicity and thats Aconitum - which I grow aswell in the garden!

I really liked the image of the yellow flowers against the cloud-draped sky. Very good imagery.

Absolutely stunning- I sure wish I could grow a number of the plants in your new garden... I've tried the heartier Laburnum alpinum a couple of times, but no luck over wintering I'm afraid.

This is a very beautiful young golden chain tree, there are more flowers than leaves. Those hanging jewels are amazing.
Thanks for this lovely contribution to Macro flowers Saturday!
Now I'm heading to part 2.
Have a great weekend!

What a stunning tree and a nice change from all the pink blossoms that are de rigeur, in spring, around here. Unfortunately It is too cold to grow Laburnum trees over here.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and leaving a comment and I really appreciate you taking the time to do so. I'll either reply to you on my blog or else make a return visit to your blog over the next few days.
