Perthshire Native Snowdrops
Here's a poem in celebration of our UK garden worthy native - Galanthus nivalis. A little flower bulb that you can depend on year on year to let us know that it won't be long until Spring.
Lone Flower, hemmed in with snows and white as they
But hardier far, once more I see thee bend.
Thy forehead, as if fearful to offend,
Like an unbidden guest. Though day by day,
Storms, sallying from the mountain-tops, waylay
Yet art thou welcome, welcome as a friend
Whose zeal outruns his promise! Blue-eyed May

Shall soon behold this border thickly set
With bright jonquils, their odours lavishing

On the soft west-wind and his frolic peers;
Nor will I then thy modest grace forget,
Chaste Snowdrop, venturous harbinger of Spring,
And pensive monitor of fleeting years!

Lovely. Wordsworth does do your art justice.
Stunning photographs of such a delicate beauty, Rosie. I keep forgetting that snowdrops are native in some parts of the world. If I could grow snowdrops, and bluebells here, I think my garden would be truly complete.
the flower looks almost prefect.
Awesome! This was like floating on a cloud that entered spring...beautiful!
What amazing and beautiful captures! Larry
That is lovely, snowdrops are so pretty. I've noticed a few poking their wee heads out - hurry up Spring. :))
Wow, my favorite flower, which does not grow in my native land, and i might not be able to see again in this lifetime. I cannot say anything anymore for these photos but "ELEGANCE". Nothing goes perfectly for them but that beautiful poem!
Stunning images. You showed here that shooting from every angle gives such different shots. Beautiful!
Wow....these are stunning. That hint of green really makes these spectacular.
Beautiful images!
Wow, beautiful! The images go so well with the poem as well. The essence of the snowdrop, portrayed.
It is interesting how the colors are both soothing and vibrant at the same time. Quite lovely.

I am addicted to snowdrops (my current post is on snowdrops), and your photos are gorgeous.
I have never seen such artistic snowdrop photos. Those snowdrops look so beautiful with all their many petals inside.
Love this series! Beautiful flower, stunning photography!

Just down right lovely images, very well done...
Amazing, such beautiful complement to Wordsworth's poetry.
Gorgeous, love the little Snowdrop, such pretty colours and perspectives!
Your photographs along with the poetry of Wordsworth, totally charming. Your current tutor will be very well pleased.
Just beautiful photos of snowdrops. I do not have them at this house but I certainly will put some in this fall.

Truly beautiful!
Rosie how lucky you are to have flowers already! I love snowdrops but have never been able to grow them in huge numbers that I would like too. I suspect my garden is too dry.
Stunning!
