Rainbows and God’s Throne Room

God's throne room faith in the unseen

Every time I see a rainbow, shining in the sky above, I remember God's great mercies and His faithfulness and love. ~ Peterson

Many many years ago I found something amazing about the books of the bible. This photograph was in the gallery of the New Scientist as one of the most stunning images of 2008. It was created by Chris Harrison of Carnegie Mellon University and Christoph Römhild of North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church and it was titled: Visualizing the Bible.

The lower part depicts all 1189 chapters of the Bible as a bar graph; the length of each bar is proportional to the number of verses in the corresponding chapter. The coloured arcs in the upper part represent 63,779 cross references between chapters, with different colours denoting varying distances between connected chapters.

Rev 4:3 And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.

Eze 1:28 As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.

God's Throne Room

None of us can even begin to comprehend awesome it really is in God's throne room. One day we will gather around that throne. For now we see Jesus in the Bible and day to day in creation, but someday it will be face to face. What a day that will be!

...can you imagine that!

Surrounded by Your glory,
what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You, Jesus,
or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence,
or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine!

alaos it is so true the man who does not know God does not have the eyes for God to be on the look out for him moment by moment.

WOW, Rosie, if they didn't turn around, they sure missed out. That is a stunning shot!! A wonderful post too. When I see a rainbow, I always think of God's promises to us, how He keeps His word, how He is faithful.

That rainbow is gorgeous, as is the tree…I have a long story about the DMV, my test anxiety, and the mean lady that would allow me to get or not get my drivers license.. and on her desk was a rainbow..I commented, she returned the small talk and GOd blessed us both that day. I so am daily inspired by you!

Amen, Rosie!! Love the pics (and I've been known a time or two to stop and get the shot, and some weird looks!), but especially love your words — I can't wait to see God on his throne! Like the song says, I can only imagine, but I'm looking forward to that day!

I'm telling ya….you should frame this. The picture was just AMAZING to begin with and then the verse made it even better. I hope when you stopped traffic that they could see the beauty of God like you did. 🙂

    Wonderful! Love it!

I love this verse that reminds us that only through the work of the Spirit in us we can know Him and His truth.
